I am a licensed DC tour guide who has lived in the Washington Metropolitan Area for my entire life. I am a retired teacher and high school guidance counselor of 32 years, from the Montgomery County Public School system in Maryland, just outside of the city. I graduated from American University in Washington DC with a BA in early childhood and elementary education and I hold an MA in school counseling and psychology. I have taught at all levels of the educational spectrum: elementary, middle, high school, and college. I hold an advanced teaching professional certificate in the state of Maryland, and my areas of certification include school administration and supervision, guidance and counseling, elementary education, and secondary psychology. I have coached both summer league swimming and high school wrestling.
Now in "semi retirement" I find that leading tours in DC is the most ideal teaching job of all: fun with the class in the most magnificent “classroom” in the world … and no papers to grade!
Since retiring from the school system, I have enjoyed immensely my time leading tours of Washington DC. Developing and offering my own personal tours is my dream come true, affording me the opportunity to personalize my own tours, in an effort to provide to each and every one of my guests, a complete and uniquely distinctive touring experience.
DC is truly a city you won’t want to miss fully experiencing: Its worldwide political power coupled with its intriguing history and of course, its breathtaking monuments and memorials make it a top destination for some 21 million visitors annually. I seek to demystify US History, making it clear, understandable, moving, fun, and memorable!
I am now approaching my eighth year operating my own one-man company. I hope you can join me on one of my walking tours!
